Migraine Treatment
Migraine headaches attack millions of people around the world every day. There are many common treatments for migraine headaches that you might consider the next time you feel one coming on. They are caused by many things and if you can pinpoint something causing a headache or intensifying it then you may be able to deal with the headache in a much better fashion.
It is very common for some people to have very sensitive eyes. When they go out into the bright sunlight they are plagued with an immediate headache. This causes them to wear sunglasses all of the time when they are outdoors. This is an easy fix and usually resolves a migraine issue and prevents them from coming on if the person doesn’t forget to put on their sunglasses.
Sensitive eyes can also cause migraines indoors with lighting arrangements you see on Christmas trees and even from a Christmas wreath. When the lights are too bright or there are too many artificial Christmas trees bunched up together it can trigger a migraine for some. This includes bright neon lighting, fluorescent lighting, and other types of lighting as well. When you are forced to work in an environment like this and you cannot get away from the lighting then you may want to talk to your doctor about different things you can do. The doctor may recommend wearing a pair of lightly tinted glasses indoors to prevent the headache.
Sensitive eyes are not the only cause of migraines. It is common for people who have a hard addiction to caffeine to find a migraine coming off if they haven’t had any coffee in the mornings. For example, some people get up every morning at 5 a.m. and drink about a pot of coffee by the time 11 a.m. rolls around. The body develops an addiction to the coffee and needs it. When you choose to sleep in on the weekend and you haven’t had any caffeine in your system by 11 a.m. the body begins to have withdrawals and causes a migraine headache. That is why some people have a migraine every weekend when they sleep in. It wasn’t oversleeping. It was the lack of caffeine it is used to having by that time of day.
Many doctors prescribe medication for migraine headaches. The majority of the prescription that doctors will give to you in the form of a shot or a pill is an extremely heavy dose of caffeine. Many people do not realize this but it is the case. Some people can prevent a headache from coming on by drinking a caffeinated drink right away. This is a very common way to relieve a migraine. If you are addicted to caffeine and trying to quit then you must gradually slow down on your intake. Quitting instantly all caffeinated products can cause severe migraine headaches over several months.
Migraine headaches are caused by many different things. Some people are never really able to target why their body gets migraines. The most common types of migraines are from sensitive eyes and from withdrawals on caffeine.
